New rumor out of Korea confirms the Galaxy S24 Ultra's titanium frame

We've already heard a few times that Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S24 Ultra would have a titanium frame, thus following the lead of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. And today yet another rumor, this time one originating in Samsung's home country of South Korea, confirms this fact.

According to unnamed sources, the S24 Ultra will be the first Samsung smartphone to have a titanium outer frame. Depending on the reception for this feature, the company may then decide to expand it to other models.

We've heard something similar before, but then, in early October, one rumor refuted the others by claiming that the S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra would all have titanium frames. Now we're back to only the Ultra.

Today's report further tells us that current aluminum frames cost Samsung under $20, and the key for the adoption of titanium on a grander scale will be yields - low yields could increase that price by up to four to five times, which wouldn't be acceptable of course. So let's keep our fingers crossed.

Samsung has tentatively set a goal to make 15 million titanium frames initially, which coincidentally is exactly how many Galaxy S23 Ultra units have shipped this year - so clearly, the S24 Ultra is the intended recipient.

The report goes on to say that the S24 Ultra will have a flat screen, and while the outer frame will be titanium, the inner frame will be aluminum - just like it is in the aforementioned iPhones.
